THE WINNING ARTISTS & ARTWORKS FROM OUR 2023 ANNUAL EXHIBITION

The following Prizes and Awards were awarded at a ceremony on Thursday 22 June at our 2023 Annual Exhibition. Congratulations to all the winners!

The Val Harris Prize

£2,000 for an outstanding work in the exhibition as judged by curator and gallerist Val Harris

 

 Child II by James Bland

 

The Table Residency Award

A two-week residency at The Atelier, above the art gallery, The Table, in Hay-on-Wye

 

DAFFODILS by JOHN DOBBS

 

The Doreen McIntosh Prize

In order to reflect the best in figurative painting in British Art, The Doreen McIntosh Prize is for an artist whose work fulfils the New English Art Club’s ideals of rigour, immediate engagement with the visual and a searching attitude. Value £3,000.

The Hermione Hammond Drawing Award

£2,000 for a drawing by an emerging artist aged 35 or under

THE BOWYER DRAWING PRIZE

Selected by the Bowyer family, £500

 

PORTRAIT OF PATRICK by MARK CHEN

 

The Winsor & Newton Award

Art materials to the value of £500

 

NULLABOR LANDSCAPE II by PATRICIA PAOLOZZI CAIN

 

The Peter Ashley Framing Prize

Presented by The Artistic Framing Company, a bespoke handmade picture frame will be created for the winning work to the value of £500

The NEAC Critics' Prize

There was a tie for the winner, so the £250 prize is shared by joint-winners James Bland for his painting 'Child II' (as seen above) and Felicity House . . .

The Dry Red Press Award

The winning work will be published as a greetings card in the Dry Red Press 'Prize Winners' range, with royalties from the sale of the cards going to the artist

 

FIRST LIGHT by SALLIANN PUTMAN

 

Mall Galleries / FBA Award

Ten free submissions to exhibitions by the Federation of British Artists at Mall Galleries (worth up to £200) for a first time exhibitor with the NEAC

 

BLUSH by HANNAH ALICE JACKSON

 

And last, but by no means least, we are delighted to announce the recipients of the NEAC Artist Scholarships for 2023-24.

 

The £5,000 NEAC Scholarship Prize goes to Rae Birch CarteR.

and 

THE 2 x £250 SCHOLARSHIP PRIZES GO TO Owain Hunt and Polly Smedley.

Congratulations to all three new NEAC Scholars who, over the coming year, will benefit from mentorship from NEAC members and free entry to all classes and workshops run by the NEAC Education Programme. Work created during their Scholarship years will be showcased in the NEAC Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries in 2024.
