Marvellous Pictures: half-day workshop with Paul Newland
In the Kenwood House collection, we can see differing approaches to landscape - from the idyllic and fanciful to realist, to romantic. Differing approaches to portraiture are also on offer - from the earthy and penetrating to the exquisitely well-mannered. The aim of this workshop is to investigate these approaches with drawings.

Exploring the Still Life: 1-day workshop with Jason Line
Join NEAC member Jason Line for one-day drawing and painting workshop focusing on the theme of the still life and the interior at 155A Gallery in East Dulwich, London.
Watercolour sketching: 1-day plein air workshop with Neil Pittaway
Spend a day sketching in watercolours at Battersea Power Station with NEAC member Neil Pittaway, who will work with you to capture the essence of one of London’s most iconic landmarks. At its peak, Battersea Power Station was supplying a fifth of London's electricity. After decades of sitting derelict, it is now open to the public as one of London's most exciting and innovative new destinations.
Half-Day Drawing Workshops with Laura Smith at the Wallace Collection
Laura is passionate about drawing from great works of art, believing that it slows down our looking and allows us to see more deeply into the mind of the artist. These workshops will begin with short introductions to the collection and suggestions for drawing subjects. Then, Laura will draw alongside students, sharing her approach to the activity.
BOTH WORKSHOPS: Saturday 4 July 2026
MorninG:
The World Comes to Pay a Visit: 1-day plein air workshop with Paul Newland
Use whatever medium you choose to study the contrasts to be seen in this vibrant area of central London. There's the Euston Road, the railway station (new superimposed on Victorian structure), the constant movements of people amongst surrounding developments and restorations. Just a few hundred yards away, the Regent's Canal with its multifarious uses.
Richmond Lock: 1-day plein air workshop with John Dobbs
Originally built in the 1800’s this beautiful lock and footbridge is buzzing with river life. Working from direct observation we will aim to capture this energy in paint.
These events are organised by the NEAC Education Programme.
There is a 10% discount for NEAC Friends (so consider signing up before booking) and students with an appropriate student number booking online. Further details can be found on individual event pages.
