New English Scholarships

Two scholarships are awarded each year to emerging artists with the most promising portfolios at the New English Art Club’s Annual Exhibition.

The Scholarships run for one year and enable the recipients to attend all classes and workshops run by the New English Education Programme free of charge. The scholars are encouraged to visit New English artists in their studio environments and develop an informal mentoring relationship with at least one member. A bursary of £250 will be offered to each recipient to help with materials and other costs.

Due to the pandemic, we have decided to extend the tenures of our 2019-20 Scholars until next summer to make up for the reduction in teaching activities and accessibility of members’ studio visits that effectively cut their scholarships short. We hope that as the emergency recedes our education programme will resume and that studios will again be opened for visits, and that we will be able to announce new Scholars at our next exhibition in summer 2021. We will update this page with details of how to apply nearer the time.
