In this new exhibition, Peter Kelly takes the viewer on a journey around a wide range of locales from the rural Essex countryside to the picturesque cities of Paris, Venice and Istanbul. His paintings evoke a mysterious world of lonely vistas, empty passageways and atmospheric expanses of land and water. Although Kelly has shown widely in group shows in recent years, this exhibition of thirty-seven paintings- ranging from landscapes to interiors to portraits- is his first solo show since 2008.
As part of the ‘New Perspectives’ exhibition Messums Wiltshire are rumming their ever-popular 3 x 15 talk with three of the artists from our ‘New Perspectives’ painting exhibition, chaired by Professor Anita Taylor. Each artist has fifteen minutes to discuss their work before the floor is opened up for an audience Q&A.
As part of the ‘New Perspectives’ exhibition Messums Wiltshire are celebrating the art of observation with a Drawing Weekend which includes talks and workshops for those of all ages and experience and tutored by professional artists.
To celebrate the art of observation with the ‘New Perspectives’ show Messum's Wiltshire are inviting famous artists, celebrities and members of the public to start with a dot and complete their own pencil drawing and return it to them by 10 November.
