Marvellous Pictures: half-day workshop with Paul Newland: Kenwood House, London

9 May 2026
Overview
PRICE: £40 (Concessions available) Kenwood House, London: 13:30 – 16:30

In the Kenwood House collection, we can see differing approaches to landscape [and portraiture]  ... The aim is to investigate these approaches with drawings.

In the Kenwood House collection, we can see differing approaches to landscape - from the idyllic and fanciful to realist, to romantic. Differing approaches to portraiture are also on offer - from the earthy and penetrating to the exquisitely well-mannered. The aim of this workshop is to investigate these approaches with drawings.

You will be drawing from two or three chosen works, looking more deeply, isolating elements of compositions.

All levels of experience are welcome.

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

Paul Newland makes paintings which essentially combine memory with imagination and observation. His works often evolve over a long period of time in an on off sort of way. More recently he has begun to paint outside in oil paint where chance and accident have become part of his working process. Paul is also a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and has exhibited widely. He has won many awards, including The Discerning Eye Purchase Prize in 2014.
