Drawing from Impressionist Paintings at The Courtauld Gallery: half-day workshop with Laura Smith: The Courtauld Gallery, London - Afternoon

21 February 2026
Overview
PRICE: £40 (Concessions available) The Courtauld Gallery, London: 14:00 – 17:00

Join Laura Smith for an afternoon  studying an extraordinary collection of Impressionist painting, including masterpieces by Renoir, Degas, Manet, Monet and many more.

Laura is passionate about drawing from great works of art. She believes that it slows down our looking and allows us to see more deeply into the mind of the artist.

Laura will draw alongside students, sharing her approach to the activity. The class will begin with a short introduction to the collection and suggestions for drawing subjects. Students will then be encouraged to split off and draw from whichever painting most appeals to them for the first part of the afternoon. Students will then gather together and, after looking at each other’s drawings, will spend time walking through the gallery, looking at the paintings drawn earlier and sharing thoughts and ideas. Students will be encouraged to seek out works that speak to them and respond in their own, unique way.

All levels of experience are welcome.
