Toby is a painter and draughtsman, primarily of people - the things they do and the places they inhabit. The works range from formal portraits to imagined scenes of people going about their work or pleasure.
Method of Working
Toby works in two main ways. Either from life, working alongside the subject, making the painting or drawing from direct and careful observation . . . or from memory, or partial memory supported by sketches, of once seen or imagined events.
