Artist Statement

Caroline's works are all painted in oil, from direct observation. Increasingly the main focus is landscape, but the interest is metaphorical. The challenge is to find underlying structure and order in subjects that are often nebulous or chaotic. There is a dominant preoccupation with complex organic forms viewed either in the context of their natural habitat or in the studio. The paintings are layered up over a period of weeks and frequently exposed to the vagaries of the weather!
