This major show of Richard Sorrell's work is dedicated to 'Exit from Brexit'.
The show is closely linked with the picture book 'After Mostly', a riches-to-rags story that was prompted by the outcome of the Brexit referendum. The drawings in the story are based on paintings made throughout Richard Sorrell's career, and other paintings have, in turn derived from the drawings.
The paintings are arranged in themes: Luxury, Out in Nature, Domestic scenes, Urban scenes, The Sea and Wilderness. There is also a small section of political paintings.
Many of the paintings, some of which are over 2 metres (6 feet) wide are recent works that have not been shown previously.
The show at the Bankside Gallery is previewed on 24th July and runs until 29th July 2018.
