About the Artists' General Benevolent Institution (AGBI): Founded by JMW Turner in 1814, the Artists' General Benevolent Institution is a charity run for artists by artists and is one of the oldest charities in the United Kingdom. The AGBI is there to help and support professional artists who, due to illness, accident or old age cannot work or earn either temporarily or in the long term.
About your tutor: Richard Pikesley has been part of the NEAC since his election at the age of 23 in 1974. He'd been on the executive committee for donkey's years before serving as President from 2013-2018. Since stepping down from that role he's been involved in a number of other projects including writing a big book about landscape painting to be published by Crowood Press later this year. He's also a member of the Royal Watercolour Society and works in oils and watercolour and draws every day. His exhibition at the Fosse Gallery in Stow on the Wold, documenting travels and painting both North and South opens on 6th October 2019.
