'Developing Skills and Techniques' 1-day workshop with Neil Pittaway NEAC RWS

This intense one day drawing workshop will give you the opportunity to develop your skills through a series of exercises focusing on a range of subjects including - landscape, portrait, drawing from observation, as well as using your imagination. Perspective will also be covered. The aim is to develop mark-making skills through the use of a variety of wet and dry media. Your tutor will demonstrate all techniques throughout and will offer one to one tuition. If the weather permits you will work in the landscape for part of the experience.. The day will end with a plenary session where you will be encouraged to evaluate and analyse the success of your own work and the work of others.

About your tutor: Neil Pittaway is well known for his complex drawings, etchings and paintings. His works are in many public and private collections including the Royal collection, V&A Museum, and the Ashmolean Museum. He is also a member of the Royal Watercolour Society. He has won many prizes and awards and has contributed to TV and Radio broadcasts including Channel 5 and BBC Radio 4. You can read an interview with him here.

Materials

  • A range of drawing pencils including graphite, charcoal, putty rubber, A1/A2 paper or pad, rags, Pritt-Stick/Glue, scissors, newspaper, drawing ink and brushes.
  • An object of your choice (not too large)
  • A picture of a portrait
  • A picture of a landscape

Your tutor will also provide you with some source material to work from
