‘Line versus Tone’ 1-day life drawing workshop with Charles Williams NEAC RWS

Whether you approach form with line like a Florentine painter or with tone like a Venetian, the linear versus the painterly, makes big differences in how you draw, how you see things and how you depict them. The facile medical reasons (‘apparently Titian was really short-sighted’) won’t do. There’s much more to it.

This workshop aims to explore this apparent dichotomy (and, like all hard and fast rules in art, it turns out that it’s no such thing. Who knew?) and try to bring things that you might have taken for granted into focus, using the life-model as a subject.

It will start with an introduction and short exercises leading to longer poses.
