‘Contemporary Drawing: The theory and practice of drawing now' with Charles Williams

Drawing is the new big thing in the visual arts and in academic circles. You can study it at degree level, enter prestigious competitions like the 'Jerwood Drawing Prize', make drawings in gold leaf on walls, or choreograph dances that are actually drawings and represent Britain at the Venice Biennale. But how do you define it.

This day-long course aims to widen and deepen your drawing practice, using practical approaches and often absurd sounding exercises to ask questions about what it might mean and what you might do with it. It will be challenging and exciting and not necessarily about being good at drawing!. You'll need an open mind ...

About your tutor: Charles Williams NEAC RWS is currently Programme Director of the Fine Art & Fine and Applied Arts degrees at Canterbury Christ Church University. He has exhibited widely and has won many prizes. Charles was also a former curator of the New English Education Program.
