The NEAC Drawing Club on Instagram Live: Online, Tuesdays, 7–8pm, with Andrew James NEAC RP & Michael Weller NEAC

10 January - 7 February 2023
ADMISSION FREE on the @newenglishart Instagram profile

Andy and Michael from the NEAC  are excited to host a new online drawing club, with a focus on drawing things from life at home.

These will be timed drawings, and the Instagram audience is invited to draw along at home. At the end, viewers will be encouraged to share their drawings on Instagram using the hashtag #NEACDrawingClub

"It's a club rather than a class. All levels are welcome. Let's try a few things and see what happens – we’re sure it’ll be fun!”

How to participate

  • You’ll need an Instagram account. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up here.
  • Follow the NEAC’s profile: @newenglishart
  • When the event has started, there are a couple of ways you should be able to find your way in:
    - If you head to your home screen (tap the house-shaped button at the bottom of your instagram screen), you should see the NEAC logo in a circle at the top of your screen with a pulsing circle around it and the word ‘LIVE’ – tap to enter.
    - Or, head to the NEAC profile @newenglishart where the profile pic (the NEAC logo) should be surrounded by a pulsing circle saying ‘LIVE’ – tap this to enter.

Weekly themes

We’re keen to mix things up, so we’ll be tackling a different subject or medium each week . . .

  • 10 Jan: self-portrait in mirror with ballpoint pen
  • 17 Jan: ink painting, with a brush, of some things on the table (mugs, salt cellar, milk bottle etc, or familiar things people like to draw)
  • 24 Jan: fat marker or paint stick - drawing of a corner of the room we're in
  • 31 Jan: making a copy, or responding to an image of an old master (a Rembrandt or Titian, that sort of thing…)
  • 7 Feb: making a monochrome in oil or acrylic, of two objects.

Admission is free, but . . .

No obligations whatsoever, but if you enjoy the events, and are able to do so, please consider making a small donation, or becoming a Friend of the NEAC so that we can do more of this sort of thing.

The NEAC is a registered charity and any contributions help us to support aspiring and established figurative artists through teaching, scholarships and exhibiting.
