NEAC member Andrew James and current NEAC scholar Polly Smedley are excited to host more online drawing club sessions, with a focus on creating self portraits.
While Andrew and Polly independently make their own work in their own studios, these will be live events where, as they paint and draw, they discuss the finer points of making a self portrait and the nature of being an artist.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
- You’ll need an Instagram account. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up here.
- Follow the NEAC’s profile: @newenglishart
- When the event has started, there are a couple of ways you should be able to find your way in:
- If you head to your home screen (tap the house-shaped button at the bottom of your instagram screen), you should see the NEAC logo in a circle at the top of your screen with a pulsing circle around it and the word ‘LIVE’ – tap to enter.
- Or, head to the NEAC profile @newenglishart where the profile pic (the NEAC logo) should be surrounded by a pulsing circle saying ‘LIVE’ – tap this to enter.

We’re keen to mix things up, so we’ll be tackling a different medium each week . . .
- 9 Jan: Drawing the Self Portrait in Charcoal on Cartridge Paper.
- 16 Jan: Painting the Self Portrait in Monochrome with Oil Paint.
- 23 Jan: Painting a Self Portrait Sketch in Oil Paint.
