Drawing at the Wallace Collection: 1-day workshop with Laura Smith: Wallace Collection, London

28 January 2024
PRICE: £80 (INCLUDING BOOKING FEE*) FOR THE DAY Wallace Collection, London

Draw alongside Laura Smith in this extraordinary collection of paintings, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Titian and Watteau

Laura is passionate about drawing from paintings. She believes that it slows down our looking and allows us to see more deeply into the mind of the artist.

London’s Wallace Collection is home to an extraordinary collection of paintings, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Frans Hals, Titian and Watteau. Laura will draw alongside students, sharing her approach to the activity.

The day will begin with a short introduction to the collection and suggestions for drawing subjects. Students will then be encouraged to split off and draw from whichever painting most appeals to them for the rest of the morning. After lunch, students will gather together and spend time walking through the gallery, looking at the paintings drawn in the morning and sharing thoughts and ideas.

The rest of the day will be spent making new drawings. Students will be encouraged to seek out works that speak to them and respond in their own, unique way.

All levels of experience are welcome.
