"An engagement leads work with materials when the tactile texture falls back into the very matter from which it’s made - it then comes into vision as something suggested. The physicality of oil paint and the archaeology of layers; plus the application and movement across the surface inseparable from the content, Clossick presents a rigorous enquiry informed by his own experience. His work reverberates with notions of freedom, selfhood, representation and aspects of the human condition connected to our divergent identities and experiences."
